What anglers should know
Texas publishes reports by species and by waterbody for major lakes, bays, rivers, small lakes, and ponds. Separate Neighborhood Fishin' and winter rainbow-trout schedules highlight the catchable portion of a program that releases roughly 40 million fish a year.
Bass and striped-bass work reaches reservoirs statewide, coastal hatcheries release red drum and spotted seatrout into bays, and neighborhood lakes near major cities receive adult catfish or winter rainbows. The program is as geographically varied as Texas itself.

Reading tip
Use reports by waterbody for a destination and by species for statewide context; always note year, strain, and fish size before judging likely catchability.
